Singer Seo Tai-ji is offering free coffee to his longtime fans at a handful of pop-up cafes in major cities nationwide to keep an old promise he made to them, his agency Seo Tai-ji Company said Monday.
The event started last Saturday and will last until this Sunday in Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Gwangju and Jeju Island. Seo, who has become a phenomenon in the music scene since he debuted in 1991, said in a magazine interview back in 1995 that if he could reunite with his fans two decades later he would like to treat them to a free coffee.
As they now prepare to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his debut, his fans urged him to keep his promise and he accepted. Seo is bearing all of the expenses, and even designed a poster and coffee cup himself.
Anyone who shows Seo Tai-ji-related material, such as a concert ticket or an album, can get a free coffee. As daily supply is limited to between 500 and 1,000 drinks per city per day, they are reportedly running out by the early afternoon.
