North Korea is stepping up efforts to carve out a new cult of personality around its young leader Kim Jong-un.

The Choson Sinbo, a pro-North Korean newspaper in Japan, said the ruling Workers Party in Pyongyang has published a book praising Kim's extraordinary skills and knowledge in military and international politics.

Analysts say the move shows the new leader's growing grip on power in the Stalinist state.

Pyongyang traditionally publishes books praising its leaders, with over 100 put into print for North Korea founder Kim Il-sung and 70 for his son and successor Kim Jong-il.
