Ballistic missile parts suspected of being made in North Korea were confiscated in Busan Port in May on their way to Syria on a Chinese cargo ship, it was belatedly revealed Wednesday. Their shipment would amount to a violation of UN Security Council resolutions 1718 and 1874.
The Shanghai-registered freighter was carrying 445 graphite cylinders that could be used for rocket nozzles and re-entry vehicle nose tips.
A diplomatic source said that the ship was at anchor in Busan to load some cargo there after leaving from Cheongjin in the North.
