The Fair Trade Commission has come up with regulations to prevent cutthroat contracts between talent agencies and their artists, it said Thursday.
The FTC said that it will continuously monitor to make sure talent agencies comply with the regulations.
Under the rules agencies must pay artists within 45 days of receiving payments for their work from clients.
Also, the FTC made it illegal to force artists to appear at agencies' fundraisers and obliges them to pay for their services.
The FTC also required talent management agencies to come up with measures to protect the human rights of artists and announce them on their websites. This especially aims to prevent sexual and other abuses of young women.
