Samsung Lions thrashed the SK Wyverns 7-0 in the sixth match of the Korean Series to defend its title by winning the best-of-seven series at Jamsil Stadium on Thursday by four games to two.

This is Samsung's fifth Korean Series title by year, or sixth technically as the 1985 season was split into two.

Slugger Lee Seung-yeop was named this year's MVP after picking up 47 of 71 votes from journalists.

Lee recorded a 0.348 batting average, one homerun and seven RBIs during the series.
