LG Electronics plans a follow-up model for its new flagship smartphone, the Optimus G, due to the model's runaway popularity.
"We decided to develop a new model of the Optimus G, which we rolled out last month, because it is getting such a favorable response," a senior LG executive said Tuesday. The follow-up model will be released in the first half of next year.
LG poured all its resources into the Optimus G, mobilizing parts subsidiaries to make as much of the phone in-house at the insistence of LG Group chairman Koo Mon-moo. The gadget has been praised for having the industry's best hardware features.
The device has a 320 pixel per inch display, the highest pixel density among smartphones in the domestic market.
