The number of babies being born in Korea rose 4.8 percent in August compared to one year earlier as the government continues to roll out measures to raise the low birthrate.
Approximately 41,000 new births were registered in August, up 1,900 from the same month last year, according to a new report from Statistics Korea.
This comes as good news given that the nation is dealing with a chronically low birthrate and aging population that is expected to undercut its growth potential.
