Google is pulling the plug on an Android event scheduled to be held on Monday due to a hurricane that is hitting the eastern U.S., the company said Saturday.

"We are canceling our Monday morning event in New York due to Hurricane Sandy. We will let you know our plans as soon as we know more," Google said.

Industry figures anticipated the event would serve as a platform to unveil Google's new 4-inch Nexus 4 smartphone and Nexus 10 tablet PC.
