Seoul to Establish Diplomatic Ties with Cook Islands

Korea will establish diplomatic ties with the Cook Islands in the South Pacific by the end of this year. Officials here say all domestic procedures will be completed once President Lee Myung-bak signs off on the proposal.

Once that happens, the Cook Islands will become the 190th country with which Korea has formed such ties. The nation comprises 15 islands with a combined population of 10,000 people.
