LG Electronics is bolstering staff in charge of managing the company's patents now that global smartphone makers are embroiled in bitter patent disputes around the world.

LG on Monday said it is hiring law school graduates to be assigned to its sales, marketing and human resources departments.

The firm apparently hopes that the lawyers will contribute to preventing disputes by casting a beady eye on any legal problems in these departments.
