Gov't to Cover Medical Cost for Toxic Leak Victims

The government will cover the treatment of those affected by a toxic leak in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province on Sept. 27. It is the first time the government is providing financial support for the medical treatment in a disaster zone.

The money will go to those who have been treated for symptoms such as skin rash and nausea caused by the leak of hydrofluoric acid.

Some 11,000 people have been given medical treatment in the aftermath of the accident, including 6,483 workers at the chemical plant where the leak occurred.
