LG Electronics has sold over 3 million LTE smartphones in Korea and it took just one year for the company to achieve the feat, it said on Sunday.

Since LG's first Optimus LTE was unveiled in the domestic market in October 2011, LG has launched four more models in the same series.

The company attributed the strong market response to improvements in software functions and user interface.

One of the series, the Optimus G, has recently been gaining momentum in overseas markets such as Japan, the U.S. and Canada.
