The Ministry of Land, Transport, and Maritime Affairs on Monday finalized emissions targets for some 50 companies who are major polluters in the transportation and industrial sectors.

The new target is a 3 percent reduction from this year's level, double last year's decrease of 1.5 percent.

The new limits will be implemented prior to a new government-led cap-and-trade scheme, which will begin in January 2015.
