Apple 'Eying Partnership with Chipmaker TSMC’

Apple is seeking to join hands with Taiwan's TSMC while reducing its dependency on Samsung Electronics for chipmaking, CNET reported on Friday.

The tech media website said that some changes will likely occur as the partnership between Apple and Samsung has deteriorated. It quoted an Asian media news report as saying Apple is expected to "turn to TSMC for quad-core chips."

But industry insiders doubt that Apple will cut all ties with Samsung. In line with its internal policy to source parts from multiple suppliers, Apple will likely have both companies produce the chips for application processors.
