Samsung's Galaxy S3 was named "Phone of the Year" at the T3 Gadget Awards in Britain, IT magazine T3 said Tuesday.

T3 said the Galaxy S3 edged out Apple's iPhone 4S to win the award. However, the iPhone 4S won a work gadget award.

Samsung and Apple were both nominated for 10 awards, but each walked away with just one. Asus' Google Nexus 7 tablet PC won the "Gadget of the Year" and "Tablet of the Year" awards.
