Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for a man accused of murdering a 10-year-old girl in Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province. In a trial at a court in Changwon on Thursday, they said Kim Jeom-deok should alternatively wear an electronic bracelet to locate him for the next 30 years and information about him be released to the public.

"The accused planned the crime in advance and showed no remorse or guilt during the investigation," prosecutors said. "We need to convey the message that he cannot live in society any more."

Kim was accused in August of abducting the victim while she was heading to school and trying to rape her. He allegedly strangled her when she resisted and buried her body at a nearby mountain.
