A 57 year-old woman has given birth to twins, becoming Korea’s oldest mother.
Seoul Asan Medical Center said the woman, identified only by her a surname Park, gave birth by Caesarean to a 2.23 kg boy and a 2.63 kg girl at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday. She went through menopause but became pregnant through artificial insemination while receiving hormone treatment.
She was in her 36th weeks of pregnancy and it was her first childbirth. Her husband is 60.
The previous record was set by a 55 year-old woman who gave birth to a girl last year.
