Apple has sold more than five million iPhone 5s in the three days since the latest smartphone was released on Sept. 21, the company said Tuesday. The pace of sales is the fastest of all smartphones released so far.
Counting the number of iPhone 5s in delivery or scheduled to be dispatched, the actual figure is even greater.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement, "Demand for iPhone 5 has been incredible and we are working hard to get an iPhone 5 into the hands of every customer who wants one as quickly as possible."
Samsung Electronics' latest Smartphone Galaxy S3, which was launched in July this year, took a month to break the five million mark.
However, sales of the iPhone5 have not been quite up to initial expectations of six to 10 million in the early stages.
