Samsung Takes Fight with Apple to Advertising

Samsung Electronics has taken the fight with Apple into advertising, publishing ads that compare the functions of the Galaxy S3 with the iPhone 5.

According to IT website CNET on Thursday, Samsung is running a TV commercial showing Americans lining up to buy the new iPhone. The ad explains that the new connector, bigger screen and LTE technology featured in the iPhone 5 are not really that new compared to the Galaxy S3.

One scene shows one person waiting in line to purchase an iPhone for his parents but saying he actually prefers the Galaxy S3.

The New York Times added Samsung "may have lost the most recent round in the United States in its legal fight with Apple over cellphone technology, but that hasn’t stopped it from mounting a new assault against Apple that relies on a more public tactic -- full-page ads."

Earlier, Samsung ran an ad that read, "It doesn't take a genius" which compares the Galaxy S3 and the iPhone in seeking to drive home the point that the iPhone is no better than the Galaxy S3. That ad compared screen size, main components and other key functions and made it appear as though the iPhone 5 has only 13 innovative features while the Galaxy S3 has 27. The ad sums up: "The Next Big Thing Is Already Here."
