Apple Clears Hurdle for iPhone 5 Launch in Korea

Apple is poised to launch its new iPhone 5 in Korea now it has the approval of the National Radio Research Agency. The firm will launch the new smartphone next month, industry insiders predict.

The approval system is a process of checking if handsets have any problem with available radio waves.

Korea was not included in the first two waves of iPhone 5 releases on Sept. 21 and 28. Apple's previous model, the iPhone 4S, received radio approval on Oct. 27 last year and was launched on about two weeks later on Nov. 11.
