A U.S. court on Monday rejected a request by Samsung Electronics to lift a sales ban on its Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet PCs.

IT website CNET said Samsung was told by the Northern District Court of California that it does not have jurisdiction to grant the Korean electronics giant’s request and Samsung would have to wait until a higher court rules on an appeal.

Earlier, Samsung had applied for the U.S. sales ban to be lifted soon since the gadget was not included in a list of products that a jury in the same court late last month said infringed Apple's patents.

Samsung and Apple have been engaged in a legal battle since last year involving the right to sell the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the U.S.
