Over 100 million households now watch Arirang TV around the world. The nation's English-language broadcaster said on Monday that it achieved the feat 15 years after it first aired programs for foreign residents in Korea in February 1997.
The station first began its overseas services in 13 countries in the Asia-Pacific region in August 1999. Its global base of viewers has since expanded almost 15-fold from 7 million to over 100 million in 188 countries.
Arirang TV is most popular in Europe (37.54 million households), followed by the U.S. (32.38 million), Asia (19.41 million), and the Middle East and Africa (14.34 million combined).
