Samsung Electronics is likely to post another record quarterly profit. Forecasts by local securities firms predict its third-quarter operating earnings will reach W7.5 trillion (US$1=W1,130), up 78 percent from the same period last year.

This would mark the largest profit ever for the company, which set its previous record of W6.7 trillion in the previous three-month period. This rosy outlook is boosted by strong sales of the company's latest Galaxy S3 smartphones.
