The World Health Organization will close its Korean office at the end of this month, the Ministry of Health and Welfare announced on Thursday.

Since the establishment in 1965, some dozen consultants and heads of the WHO’s Korean office made a huge contribution to the advancement of public health in the country.

Korea is now 11th largest benefactor country in the world in public health and hygiene, donating US$10.5 million to the WHO last year.
