SK Telecom said on Thursday that its mobile subscribers for the long-term evolution (LTE) service now exceed 5 million. LTE is a 4G wireless service that offers speeds up to five times faster than 3G connections.
SK Telecom has surpassed 5 million LTE subscribers in just 14 months since its launch of the service last July. It attracted 1 million in the last six weeks as more of its smartphone users migrate over the faster service.
LG Uplus has more than 3 million LTE subscribers, while KT has 2 million.
