The government plans to reinforce its regulations on alcoholic beverages and cigarettes.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare said Wednesday that it will push ahead with legislation including a complete ban on alcohol commercials on broadcast channels and public places, such as on buses and in subway stations.

It will also stipulate that cigarette packets should display graphic images of smoking-related diseases such as lung cancer, and feature larger warning signs.
