Singer Psy was appointed as a promotional ambassador for the Formula One Korean Grand Prix by the race's organizing committee on Tuesday.

"I will do my best as a promotional ambassador to make sure the globally recognized motor race is a success," said Psy, who recently shot to global stardom with his music video for "Gangnam Style."

He will stage a concert for spectators of the race at a venue in Yeongam, South Jeolla Province on Oct. 4.
