Schools Close as Typhoon Approaches

The massive typhoon Bolaven will reach the West Sea about 170 km west of Seoul around 2 p.m. Tuesday, bringing strong winds of 30 to 40 m/s to the Seoul metropolitan area, the Korea Meteorological Administration forecast Monday.

All primary and secondary schools in Seoul are closed for the day, as are elementary, middle and special schools in Incheon, Gwangju, Daejeon, Gangwon Province and Jeolla provinces. High schools can close at their principals' discretion.

There will be no landings and take-offs between 12 noon and 9 p.m. for all planes at Incheon and Gimpo airports on Tuesday.
