The Korean Military will carry out its biannual defense drill on the Dokdo islets next month as scheduled, despite the recent tensions with Japan.
Officials at the Defense Ministry said Monday that the four-day military exercise will begin on Sept. 7.
The Navy's 1st Naval Fleet will lead the drills, and Marines will conduct a landing exercise on Dokdo by helicopter. The drill will not include firing live ammunition.
The drill started in 1996 and the most recent exercise was held in February.
