Will Lee Chung-yong of Bolton set another record by commanding the highest transfer fee for a Korean player in the English Premier League?
British media including the Daily Mail reported on Monday that Wigan "are weighing up a bid" for Lee, who is now valued at around 7 million pounds. The People, a British weekly, wrote that, "Wigan will have to stump up 10 million pounds" for the right winger.
If Lee moves to Wigan for anywhere upwards of 6 million pounds it will set a new transfer record for a Korean in the English top-flight league, smashing the current record held by Ki Sung-yueng after his recent move from Celtic in the Scottish Premier League to Swansea.
Queens Park Rangers paid 5 million pounds to acquire Park Ji-sung from Manchester United in July, and Arsenal paid the same amount to sign Park Chu-young from AC Monaco in August last year.
