Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol of Thailand, the eldest grandchild of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and third in line to the throne, attended a legal conference in Seoul on Monday flanked by a huge entourage.
Thailand's chief prosecutor, justice minister, ambassador to Korea and bodyguards were among 200 officials in the retinue at the conference, hosted by the Korean Institute of Criminology and the Asian Criminological Society.
Bajrakitiyabha graduated in law from Bangkok's Thammasat University and received a PhD in law from Cornell before becoming a prosecutor in 2006. Her decision to become a prosecutor drew a lot of media attention there at the time.
Her active participation in various social issues has made her a popular figure in Thailand and a symbol of the modern woman in the Southeast Asian country.
