Passenger Tally at Incheon Airport Hits Fresh Record

The number of outbound passengers at Incheon International Airport has hit a new record every weekend. The airport recorded an all-time high of 140,330 passengers on Sunday, according to Incheon Airport Authority on Monday.

The record was set only a week after the last one on July 29, when a total of 137,118 passengers used the airport.

The previous record was 121,974 set on Aug. 15 last year. The newest record this year is up 15 percent.

An aviation industry insider speculated, "Travelers feel less of a financial burden when they go overseas thanks to a wave of low-cost airlines on international routes, and last-minute summer bargains for travel packages are boosting the overseas travel market" despite the ongoing recession.
