People are flocking to the country's southernmost beaches amid the summer's scorching heat. Over 2 million people visited beaches in the port city of Busan on Sunday in an effort to try and cool off as the mercury reached 35 degrees Celsius.

The most popular choice on Sunday was Haeundae Beach, with more than 700,000 beach-goers heading there.

The number of visitors to the beaches stood at around 1.6 million one day earlier.
