Samsung Lions' slugger Lee Seung-yeop hit the 500th home run of his career in the Korean and Japanese professional baseball leagues.
He squeezed out a solo homer when the game against Nexen Heroes was tied at one at the top of the fourth in Mokdong Stadium on Sunday. It was his 17th of this season, and his first in two weeks since June 15 against Kia Tigers in Daegu.
Lee's achievement came in his 2,022nd game -- 1,225 in Korea and 797 in Japan -- since his debut in 1995.
Only 35 men have managed the feat in Korea, Japan, and the U.S. professional baseball leagues. Of those, 25 did so in Major League Baseball, with Barry Bonds (762) at the top of the pack, and nine in Japan including Sadaharu Oh (868).
