It ended in a disappointing goalless draw. The Korean Olympic football team played its first Group B match against Mexico on Thursday at St. James' Park in Newcastle.

Korea played well, with captain Koo Ja-cheol and Ki Sung-yueng posing a constant threat to the Mexican goalkeeper. But none of the shots translated into goals.

With one point from its first match, Korea will face a tough journey to qualify for the quarterfinals.

The team plays its second match against Switzerland at 1:15 a.m. Monday (Korean time) in Coventry.
