Despite the European debt crisis and global economic slowdown, Hyundai Motor and its affiliate Kia Motors marked their highest combined market share in Europe last month.
The European Automobile Manufacturers Association said their vehicle sales accounted for 6.3 percent of the market in June, up 0.2 percent from a month earlier.
Together they ranked eighth, having sold around 79,000 units. They are expected to report a similar market share for the whole year, setting a new precedent among Korean carmakers in the region.
Volkswagen dominated the market, followed by Peugeot and Renault.
