Men Less Shy About Public Displays of Affection

Men are more likely to be affectionate to their partner in public than women, and couples display their intimacy most often on the street rather than in other public places, according to a straw poll by a matchmaking firm.

The company surveyed 261 unmarried men and women in their 20s and 30s nationwide from June 8 to 17.

In the poll, 23.6 percent of the respondents said that, when it comes to public displays of affection, they mostly follow their heart unabashed on the street, followed by in the cinema (21.3 percent), on the metro or bus (12.3 percent), at a holiday destination (12.1 percent), inside an elevator (11.4 percent), at the pub (9.3 percent), or while taking a taxi (7.1 percent).

On whether such public displays of intimacy should be banned, 56.7 percent answered that it depends on the level of intensity, while 40.2 percent saw this as too harsh.
