David Beckham's dream to play in the 2012 London Olympics will not come to fruition.

British media reported on Thursday that the English footballer's name was omitted from the final list of 18 players for Team GB's Olympic football squad, despite his strong desire to represent his country in London next month.

Beckham, who played a key role in the city's bid to host the Summer Games for a third time, served as a torch bearer in the Olympic torch relay on May 18.
