LG to Launch Voice-Recognition Software on Mobiles

LG said on Wednesday it will launch a service enabling users to control their smartphones via voice commands.

With Quick Voice, an intelligent voice recognition software similar to Apple's Siri, users can make calls, send texts, summon their contact lists, set alarms and control more functions on their mobiles by issuing verbal directives.

For example, phone numbers can be saved in the user's contact list and alarms set automatically with just a few spoken commands.

The service will be available on the Optimus Vu, and later on the Optimus LTE 2, when the phones get an operating system upgrade from the end of this month.
