China has declared that the Great Wall is twice as long as previously thought. The world's longest man-made structure was estimated to be about 8,800 km long, stretching to Hebei Province in the north.
But now China's State Administration of Cultural Heritage claims the length should be extended to nearly 21,200 km, stretching further to the east and the west, as ruins have also been found in the western part of Xinjiang Province and eastern part of Heilongjiang Province.
