1st Korean Qualifies for Olympic Triathlon

Heo Min-ho will become the first Korean to compete in the Olympic triathlon.

The Korea Triathlon Federation on Tuesday said the 22-year-old earned a berth at the 2012 London Olympics.

Heo finished fifth in the 2012 Tateyama ASTC Triathlon Asian Championships in Japan last month, the best performance ever by a Korean.

The triathlon involves 1.5 km of swimming, 40 km of cycling, and 10 km of running in sequence without a break.
