The U.S. State Department on Monday held an event promoting Korean cuisine, where hundreds of officials had a chance to taste a dozen dishes.
They included bulgogi (seasoned grilled beef), sinseollo (a royal dish of meat and vegetables), tangpyeongchae (seasoned mung bean starch jelly with vegetables), japchae (cellophane noodles with thinly sliced beef and a variety of vegetables), kimchi, bibimbap (rice with an assortment of seasonal vegetables), songpyeon (crescent-shaped rice cakes) and sujeonggwa (persimmon punch).
The event was co-hosted by the Korean Embassy, the New York office of Korea Agro-Fisheries and Food Trade Corporation and Korean Heritage Foundation.
