Pantech, LG Electronics, and Samsung Electronics are releasing strategic new smartphones in May and June, many of them on the 4G LTE platform that is said to be five times faster than the 3G mobile network.
Pantech releases its new Vega Racer 2 on Monday through SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus, a spokesman said Sunday. The Vega Racer 2 has a longer-lasting battery that can manage 245 hours of standby and 9.5 hours of talk time.
"The power efficiency is greater and the battery lasts longer thanks to a one-chip processor, an integrated communications chip and applied processor," the Pantech spokesman said.
LG Electronics is to unveil the Optimus LTE 2 in mid-May. It has a one-chip processor and a capacity of 2GB of RAM, the biggest in Korea.
Samsung Electronics showcased the Galaxy S3 in the U.K. earlier this month and starts selling it in the domestic market next month. It has a super AMOLED screen with better picture quality than LCD screens and a quad-core processor.
