Golfer Choi Kyung-ju gave out a surprise gift of Choco Pie to competitors and organizers during the 2012 Players Championship on the PGA Tour. Confectionary maker Orion made the announcement on Thursday.
There is a tradition for the defending champion of the Players Championship to make a small gift as a token of gratitude to the participants before it begins. Therefore, Choi as the defending champion distributed 7,000 Choco Pie with his name on.
"I represent Korean golf, and many people feel that Orion's Choco Pie is a kind of national snack in Korea and would be a fitting present. So I placed a special order," Choi said.
Orion said 140 million Choco Pies are sold each month around the world.
