Will Park Chu-young still be a Gunner next season? Arsenal in the English Premier League announced on its website on Tuesday that it has agreed with striker Lukas Podolski, who plays for Cologne in Germany's Bundesliga, to a long-term contract starting next season until 2016.The signing fee is reported to be around 13 million euros.

Podolski, who at 26 is the same age as Park, played for his country in the last two World Cups and scored 43 international goals in 95 caps. He is currently the fourth best-scoring player in the Bundesliga with 18 goals and 8 assists in 28 games.

Podolski is a versatile player equally at ease on the wing or as a lone striker, where he makes deadly use of his ability to penetrate defenses and rifle shots home with his powerful left foot.

With the acquisition of Podolski, Park's role in the team is only likely to shrink even further. Since joining Arsenal last August, Park has played in just six matches and recorded one goal. His last appearance in the Premier League was in January, when he came on as a sub in the final minutes of the game against Manchester United, which the Red Devils won 2-1.

Park has been mostly playing in the reserve team, and British media have named him one of the five worst trades in the Premier League this season. As such, it seems almost a certainty that he will either be loaned or traded this summer.
