Girls' Generation have been named the most popular female singers in the first half of this year according to a straw survey of 1,329 people by market researcher Leespiar released on Wednesday. Some 26.9 percent of respondents picked the band as their top choice.
Teen star IU followed with 15.3 percent. Next came Wonder Girls with 7.3 percent, Lee Hyo-ri (7.1 percent), Baek Ji-young (6.5 percent) and miss A (6.2 percent).
The boy band Big Bang, now busy with a world tour, garnered 18.1 percent to rank top among male singers. Singer and actor Lee Seung-gi took second place with 11.3 percent, followed by 2PM (8.1 percent), Rain (6.9 percent) and 2AM (5.7 percent).
