The Korean government on Thursday expressed deep disappointment after high-ranking Japanese officials and lawmakers attended a demonstration in Tokyo pushing Japan's dubious claim to Korea's Dokdo islets.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Cho Byung-jae stressed that the islets in the East Sea are Korean territory and urged Japan to act responsibly to build a future-oriented relationship with Korea and to help its own future generations gain an accurate sense of history.
The ministry also summoned a high-level official from the Japanese Embassy to protest against Wednesday's demonstration.
