Singer Ali won the Super Nova award at the Hong Kong Asian Pop Music Festival on Friday. She garnered the highest score in two rounds of competition. Ali also pocketed the award for best vocal performance.
Seven teams of rising stars representing Asian countries participated in the competition, including China's Song Jingyu, Alex Wu of Hong Kong and Japan's HIROZ SEVEN+.
Pop singers across the region like Korea's TVXQ and Brown Eyed Girls, Ikumi Kumagai of Japan and Taiwan's Chang Yun Ching also performed at the event.
Ali told the Chosun Ilbo by telephone after the competition she was happy to win the top prize and raise further awareness of Korean pop music in a competition that she just entered to gain experience on the international stage.
