Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are going from strength to strength in the global TV market. In terms of global flat-screen TV sales, the Korean firms outsold their Japanese rivals for the first time ever at the end of last year.
Market research firm DisplaySearch said on Wednesday that the two tech giants had a combined 34 percent share of the market in the last quarter of 2011, while Japanese firms accounted for 31 percent.
The figures are even more impressive considering that Samsung and LG are Korea's only exporting TV manufacturers, but they are competing against more than 10 Japanese rivals.
Samsung and LG are also expected to outsell Japanese companies this year, as they are edging ahead in terms of LED and 3D TV sales.
