A delegation of senior Korean officials was scheduled to leave for Washington on Tuesday to discuss details of the U.S.-led sanctions against Iran for Tehran's nuclear program.
Officials here said that during their four-day visit, the delegation is likely to exchange views on how much crude imports from Iran should be reduced.
Last month, senior U.S. officials visited Korea and urged Seoul to slash its purchases of Iranian oil, which accounts for some 10 percent of the nation's total crude imports. The foreign ministry said it has not decided yet on whether to acquiesce to the U.S. request.
